Have any of you used the site Yummly yet? It works as sort of a virtual recipe box like Pinterest, but you only get recipes on Yummly. After you’ve added a few yums, they will give you recommendations and you’re able to set your taste preferences like favorite cuisines, allergies, disliked ingredients etc so you only see the stuff you want to see. I think it’s awesome for searching through recipes if you have a picky eater or someone with an allergy that’s not as common like black beans or tomatoes. Here’s some of the things you can filter out:
When you search for something (I chose “pizza”) you can add in a bunch of tags and filters like “with ingredient” if you want to use up your mushrooms. Or “without ingredient” if you don’t want garlic. Filters are available for preparation and cook time, nutrition goals, taste profiles, and so many other things! It’s pretty much everything I’ve been wanting in my recipe box. I’ve been using it to help me make my weekly meal plans lately, and I’ve been loving the recipes that have been recommended to me.
Yummly works like Pinterest where you see the most popular recipes at the top, and after you’ve created an account with them you can “Yum” recipes from the yummly page or from any site that has the yum button installed. I’d love to have you check out my Yummly publisher page and yum some of my recipes to your recipe box or you can use the orange “yum” button at the bottom or top of any of my recipe posts.
As a blogger I love that I’ve been meeting all sorts of awesome new readers who have popped over via Yummly lately. (Welcome!) Yummly only publishes a featured image and the ingredients list (pulled from your recipe plugin) over on their site and then readers still have to pop over to your site for the directions. I think this is a win-win because more eyes see my recipes and can search through ingredients, but they still stop by.
Have you tried Yummly yet? What do you think?
